TS1500 Ethernet Adapter, removal and installation of the correct driver

Summary

Instructions for replacing the TS1500 Ethernet Adapter (p/n: CUSBNIC-2) are listed below.

Details

Unplug the stacker USB cable at the stacker. Power the entire Automated Programming System down and remove the stackers' left side upper and lower covers. Attached to the inside of the lower cover is the Ethernet adapter. Replace it. Note the revision of the old adapter: a bar code label that says S/N: xxxxxxxxxx H/W: A1, would be adapter revision A1. Other possibilities are A2, A3 and B. Note also the hardware revision of the new adapter. It will probably be rev B. Depending on the exact revision of the adapter, the cabling will be the same or slightly different. Use your best judgement to sort it out. Understand that the USB cable that plugs into the adapter, can also disconnect from the inside of the stacker if you need to replace the cable.

The network cable between the adapter and the Galil board is a crossover cable, (p/n: CCABCAT5CROSS). After connections are made, and before closing the stacker, reconnect the external USB cable that was disconnected previously, power up and see what messages are displayed. If XP asks for drivers, use the driver CD-ROM that came with the adapter. After the drivers are installed, set the IP address as per the instructions in the TS1500 Users Guide which can be found in BPWin Help. After setting the IP address, go to Device Manager and ensure that the DUB-E100 adapter is present and working properly. The LEDs on the Stacker's Galil board should be blinking.

Start BPWin and verify that the TS1500 is detected after the Serial Peripheral Scan completes. Once the stacker is communicating, be sure to replace the covers.

In the event that the TS1500 has been installed previously with a different driver, the old driver(s) must be removed. d-Link does not provide instructions to accomplish this so the instructions below were created so that customers do not have to 'reformat their hard drive' in order to install only the correct driver.
